Self-starters put themselves out there to solve problems and face challenges, and you’re about to meet three of them. Say hello to Yasmine, Annie, and Fay—some very inspiring Sizmek women. Sizmek’s success depends on diversity—a mix of ideas, perspectives, and cultures that enables us to push beyond what is expected and create what is inspiring. Research shows a strong correlation between diversity of management teams and overall innovation, not to mention business performance, and women like these help Sizmek succeed every day.

Meet Yasmine Decosterd
Vice President, People Operations, Seattle

Since her family immigrated to the United States when she was six, Yasmine Decosterd has had to learn from change. And during the years she has been in tech, there has been plenty of it to learn from. “I’ve always said: working at Yahoo! was my MBA, and working at Sizmek is my PhD.”

As a VP of people operations at Sizmek, her advice on surviving change is apt: find your people—supporters, colleagues, and friends who will guide you through the ups and downs, the good and bad. And she definitely makes that happen in her own life. “I’m really passionate about women’s empowerment, so that we can be role models for future generations,” says Yasmine. “I think it’s important for women to have dreams, set goals, and achieve success as they define it—to go for what you want in life.”

Practicing what she preaches, Yasmine founded a women’s group called #bossmoms that is centered around community, self-development, wellness, and giving. As a mother of two young children, she wanted to do something outside of work for and with women trying to balance the many responsibilities in their lives. The group loosely follows the LeanIn.org model, holding monthly small meetups focused on self-development and larger events for the full chapter. “Through the work we do at #bossmoms, I’ve met a lot of wonderful women business owners  who have turned into inspirational mentors and new friends—and who have joined our mission of giving back to others,” she says. “We currently support three local nonprofit organizations and partner with many local businesses in our goal of supporting the community.”

Yasmine is committed to helping women achieve their potential, and she sees the adtech industry as a good model for equality. “The industry is so modern and forward-thinking; there are equal opportunities for men and women. For me, it’s never been about male vs. female.”

Meet Annie Marcuzzo
Senior Manager, International Product Development, London

Annie Marcuzzo loves to travel—and not just taking beach trips to Italy. Her travels have taken her to more than 50 countries, including Vietnam, Tunisia, and Montenegro, and she loves learning about different cultures and people. Her global outlook undoubtedly contributes to her success as a senior manager for international product development in London, where she manages DSP functionality for Sizmek’s  international markets, including enhancements and integrations.

While she loves globetrotting and is notoriously friendly, moving from the United States to the United Kingdom was a big challenge for her—and it wasn’t easy to build the social and professional networks she had relied upon in Chicago. But by taking her own advice and putting herself out there, she has definitely found her footing. She now plays for the Regents Park Rangers, a women’s premier soccer club in London, which competes all around the UK. She also held her own recently in an industry match where she was the only female on the pitch.

“I enjoy the social aspect of Sizmek, whether it is Thursdays at the pub or dueling other ad tech companies in semi-friendly football matches,” says Annie. “In this business, there is never a dull moment, and I am always amazed by the new technology we come across in the adtech landscape.” Product lead Hardeep Bindra reinforces Annie’s friendly, can-do spirit remarking, “Annie has the sunniest disposition of anyone I know. That has helped her build lasting relationships and coupled with her curiosity and desire to learn, has helped her gain tactical knowledge on the products she supports. She is also not one to shy away from responsibility and exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit by willingly taking on tasks that need investigating. Very excited to have Annie on the team!”

Meet Fay Huang
Team Leader and Quality Assurer, Guangzhou

“I think women working in technology have  a lot of pressure on them, and finding time for yourself is important to quality of life,” says Fay Huang, an expert in quality assurance at Sizmek in China. For Fay, that time for herself is often spent on a yoga mat.

“I started practicing yoga two years ago, and it has changed many aspects of my life,” she says. “I used to be cold all the time, slept poorly, and felt a lot of stress,” she says. “Now, I feel more peaceful and able to face challenges.”

Fay is responsible for quality assurance practices that ensure every Sizmek campaign launches successfully and for continually improving the efficiency of her team. She also works to continually improve her technical knowledge and is building her proficiency with the Sizmek DSP. Her next goal? A yoga vacation abroad to perfect her asanas.
